Languages do get replaced. It is just taking them longer and longer. How much ALGOL do you see out there? There will be almost no Objective C at some point.

Languages do get replaced. It is just taking them longer and longer. How much ALGOL do you see out there? There will be almost no Objective C at some point. There will be almost no Visual Basic.NET at some point. A C++ replacement may take longer than the rest of my life. It is possible though that we may not be that many years away that, for new projects, it may be uncommon to choose an “unsafe” language.
