I'd argue Swift has replaced Objective-C, for new code. Or will soon. If Carbon does the same vis-a-vis C++, I'd say they've succeeded in "replacing C++".

  Only because the platform's own says it is my way or the highway, Carbon authors don't have this leverage. Just like Kotlin hardly matters outside Android.
