i think most people care very little about authenticity. pretty much not at all. that's why this will have zero negative effect on social media. rather the opposite as it fits right into the contemporary value system. tv shows, movies, games, youtube pranks, reaction videos, music clips, porn, ... almost nothing is real about those media products. why does it work? because it activates the right receptors in our brains and if necessary we just pretend those are real and authentic.
