I live in a upper middle class US town, and I have yet to see a teen using anything other than an iPhone.

  As was mentioned above, this seems to be mostly a US problem. In other countries it's much more balanced towards Androids.

    Yes, I was indicating that what I have seen was in line with article's assertions.
