At this point, IG is a complete Joke. Meta is just trying to copy as many competitor innovations as possible and stuff them all into IG. Then if the feature shows good engagement, Meta will add it to Facebook, Messenger, and WhatsApp.
This is the sort of blind engagement seeking mindset that got them into trouble with Facebook. They run A/B tests without a long-term vision. They add features without considering how it might annoy people and turn them off. For example, on Instagram, the main feed only shows posts from your followings once, then they switch to algorithmic random posts.
