American society is dumb people selling useless crap to other dumb people.

- pixl97 4y agoIt's fun and easy to bash America, but if you cut America off the statement does it not cover most societies?
- 111111101101 4y agoAmerica is relatively unique in that its culture celebrates "coaching" which is the angle that many of these get-rich-quick schemes take. I guess that it might be related to the sports centric high school education that many (most?) Americans experience.
- biohax2015 4y agoI don’t live in other societies so I don’t know. What I do know is that America celebrates this sort of thing and calls it “hustle”.
- pixl97 4y agoYou may be surprised then to learn hustle exists around the world and has existed in one name or another since we started writing words in books and likely before then. Every pyramid scheme that's existed has been some form of this. Same with fraudulent bonds/stocks back in past. We are just subjected to it more on an individual basis because we have speed of light global communications and mediums that allow hucksters to spread their grift to millions of people at once.
- biohax2015 4y agoI’m not arguing whether or not grift exists universally. I believe it does. What’s not universal is the near-idolization of it. That’s uniquely American.
