Bankman-Fried Funded 'Woke Shit for Transactional Purposes,' Prosecutors Allege
- raverbashing 4y agoLooks like his altruism was based on what would earn him more brownie points basically
- l_theanine 4y agoI think the premise of "Institutional Investing for Reputation Management from Media Corporations"-as-a-service has some merit as an allegation against him. It's very clear that many disparate publications and outlets went out of their way to paint him in a positive light, which even by itself is a concerning condemnation of modern journalistic integrity. The question that will inevitably come up is where was the line crossed? It's certainly not an overtly bad thing to offer financial support to news media, since it's hard to make an honest dollar just reporting the truth these days; but then, they didn't really do that, did they? They took his money, which turned out to be just regular folks' money, spun his bullshit high and low, near and far, and now it's apparently no big deal that all these companies have fat wallets since baby boy is probably going to get locked up for a while. I don't know, the whole things reeks of corruption and cronyism. Too many people with too many motives and way too much money involved to find a clear cut path through the story. Edit: I might as well add, I suspect the entire Effective Altruism microcosm will begin to collapse, rank and file upwards, as the truth comes out now that SBF is revealed to be a gigantic fraudster playing every possible fiduciary misbehavior in the playbook.
