Journey from frustration with JavaScript stack to finding joy in Ruby on Rails
- wyem 4y agoComing from a Java background, I totally can relate with the struggles in JavaScript ecosystem.
- austin-cheney 4y agoHowever, if you're just starting out as a developer, it can be nearly impossible to build a complete project with what you learn. You'll have to stack layers upon layers to create a full-stack project. Learn React and build a site. Cool. Does it need to be even better? Build with Next.js. A self inflicted shooting injury to the face. Even if accidental the cause is still so grotesquely negligent that sympathy is absent. Why on Earth would anybody make the blanket assumptions that these layers of third party tools are somehow required? As a JavaScript developer who enjoys the language I loath the blind reliance on this insanity. Is vanilla JavaScript really that scary? If that’s not the cause of these blanket assumptions then what is? Is vanity or trend chasing?
