Not sure what Trudeau thinks he can do here - surely a foreign government cannot compel a private company to not only provide service but actually transfer revenue in the course of doing so?
As an aside, less news is general is probably a good thing in general, so there's an 'alls well that ends well' scenario here
- brokenmachine 4y agoYes, they can. See: Australia. Google is forced by the govt to pay Murdoch for showing their articles in search results. I believe the legislation is active.
- water-your-self 4y agoThey can prohibit foreign companies from doing business inside their borders pretty easily. Less news is very worrysome. Do you own google stock?
