Never a Windows user, I have been a Unix/Linux user since 1991. (Unix from 1991 to 2001, Linux from 2001-now)
Around 2006, I bought a MacBook. I REALLY, REALLY wanted that MacBook to convince me that a Mac was 'the best thing since sliced bread'.
Over the next year or so, I really tried to absorb the MacOS lifestyle. I was an abject failure. There were so many things about MacOS that just didn't mesh with any Unix-like OS that I had ever seen. (And MacOS is really BSD under the bonnet, with an overlay of Apple's Windows Manager.)
And don't get me started on Apple's DRM bullshit, where they deliberately make software and file-structures more obfuscated than necessary.
Let's just say that a year or two in the MacOS world made me horribly disillusioned about Apple and its philosophy.
It was such a relief to get back to the Linux/Unix world of freedom.
