If you really want burglars and locks analogy it would be invisible burglars, that steal secrets and things you don't notice from your home. Then some not invisible burglars appear and you realize you need better locks. Invisible burglars are more dangerous. You may prefer world without burglars at all, but that is not an option. It's just wishful thinking.
