I love this project and generally agree with the idea that art is up to the viewer. At the same time, I believe that artist have can often have a unique ability to see/perceive reality in a way that escapes the general population, and can convey those perceptions to the rest of us through art. I’ve been blown away by how an artist is able to portray a situation in a way that it’s never occurred to me and the enlightenment resulting from it is very valuable to me. So, I think that both are needed, art that gives freedom to the observer to makes sense of it, and also art that conveys such deep perceptions/insights that artists seems to have more often that the rest of us and thus enlightened us too!
