Never heard of this guy before, but why would a writer with a career that has no relationship whatsoever with tech (beside fictional writing) reach #1 post on HN for a tech-related topic?
And I'm not saying that to defend crypto, I hate that shit. I'd rather buy a pet rock.

- m-watson 4y agoHe has written a lot of sci-fi that has to do with technology including cryptocurrencies and the metaverse(he was potentially the first use of the term https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metaverse https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metaverse). That would be why it can get attention, he is a writer who has explored these topics a lot so you can say his relationship to it is thinking and organizing his thoughts about tech / tech-dystopia.
