MSFT Let Its Principles Go, All for a Creepy Bot
- djha-skin 4y agoMicrosoft has a very very long history of releasing an initial product that is bad, then strongly improving on it in the next major release. Windows me and XP, Vista and 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10. The odd thing here is that this is the second time their AI has gone sour.
- elkos 4y agoSadly the article isn't accessible. I can't help but wonder which principles is the article about.

- nhchris 4y agoWhy do we go along with this journalist charade that semi-random strings generated by a language model are "dangerous"? The article talks as if previously, everything turned up by search engines was 100% true and so people are completely unprepared for dealing with falsehoods on the internet, and as if the chat bot is going to break into your house at night and assault you if you make it angry: Testers, including journalists, have found the bot can become aggressive, condescending, threatening, committed to political goals, clingy, creepy and a liar.
