The radical right has moved the "center" so far that if Nixon were alive today, he would be considered a radical liberal. It is entirely possible, likely even, that the WaPo hasn't changed their position, or has even moved further right. They just haven't moved as far right as the average, and so therefore you blame them for being liberal now.
