This caught me off guard without the "Long Live ..." continuation that is the headline meme these days. In the early 2000's I ran a lab and made it a 4 day week. The 5th day, up to the individual but scheduled, was done at home. Mostly it didn't matter if they were actually working, as long as they were easy enough to contact if needed. A fair portion of the work happens "in your head" and so I respected their personal autonomy to think similarly while not actually at the lab. They say the best ideas happen while showering, after all. And it seemed to work, because every week they came up with new things and stayed motivated. I didn't ever feel like they were abusing it.
