After clicking "Maybe Later" I get a "Don't Ask Again" option after that, so it's possible, but harder than it should be. This is definitely bad practice. I don't feel like this should be enabled by default. It would be fine for them to advertise it when you click on the extension asking you to turn it on, but not inline on every email form with a double opt-out.
