Completely insane. I found recently when I tried to make a new twitter account to tweet at a local customer support account that I was immediately suspended. I didn't post anything incendiary or rude. My theory is that a lot of these sites have become so saturated that most people who are going to sign up already have, and the vast majority of new signups are all spam accounts. So the companies respond by making it more and more difficult to make a new account. The irony is that there is almost certainly another team at the company, if not multiple, dedicated to getting new user signups.
