What aspect of this article is noteworthy or valuable?
It starts by minimizing people who "felt mandatory vaccinations violated their personal freedom" - a matter that is philosophical and political, and not at all scientific.
It goes on to assert that "Fauci was even falsely accused of funding research to develop the virus", citing a favorable reference and ignoring NIH ties to GoF and the days-old news that China was blocking further investigation related to a lab leak, which is now widely regarded as the most likely origin.
In sum, it looks to me like a political op-ed making a vague appeal to "scientific" expertise.
- TurkishPoptart 4y agoAgreed, this is a garbage article. Since 2020, we've seen this new narrative percolate about "rejecting" or "trusting" _The Science_. "Misinformation" = ideas that are not blessed by the political/medical establishment. Science is not a dictum from above, and it is not God. Science is a process of questioning pervailing norms to better understand reality. This was a rare period where all the major systems of media, information, and entertainment presented a message as _Scientific Fact_. And if you shared a video on Facebook of Fauci from March 2020 saying things that conflicted $Todays_facts, they would delete it for "Misinformation". Remember discussions about "natural immunity"? For years, we were scapegoated, smeared, or disingenously referred to as "MAGA / Trump supporters" because we were aware of this, but it took until 2023 for a mainstream news service to publicize this information. [1] And yet even if we had coronavirus and recovered from it just fine, the president warned us of a "winter of severe illness and death" if we didn't take additional shots of a product that did not undergo long-term safety testing, despite these vaccines not designed to prevent transmission or provide immunity, unlike traditional/historical vaccines (Polio, smallpox, etc). [2]. Even talking about the benefits of Vitamin D was treated as _heresy_ and met with the same derision from the left-leaning journalists I used to respect. And yet, the vaccine mandates are still in effect at most companies, states, universities, and counties. Why? I think intertia. All of _The Science_ has been heavily politicized or otherwise a downstream customer of Pfizer.
