I had a leg injury, was walking ~month in crutches and the biggest issue was I could not easily carry around stuff in my hands. And everyone was like, just use backpack. That was so annoying, especially with food and the like.
So why isn't there a simple robot to carry stuff? I will put anything on/in it, walk somewhere, it would follow me and then I can sit, take crutches off and take the thing from it. So many elderly have walking difficulties and a robot that can carry stuff for them around home would be helpful.
- JumpCrisscross 4y ago> why isn't there a simple robot to carry stuff You’re asking why there isn’t a simple robot that can walk around with a human?
- rini17 4y agoIt does not have to walk. Imgine a robotic vacuum which instead of vacuuming carries your stuff.
- LinuxBender 4y agoTotally doable. Someone just has to invest in it. There are already drones that can follow a person and avoid obstacles. The higher-end drones are getting really good at this. It sounds like you needed a ground based drone with tracks so it can go upstairs. These exist for bomb squads but lack full autonomy AFAIK. I think this would be a fun exercise for robotic companies. A challenge to make a track based drone that can play hide-and-seek on multiple floors.

- foxyv 4y agoThere are a couple of these. They are kind of expensive though. Personally I would prefer an electric wheel chair for the same price.
