Intel may be the only way to save the Mac Pro
- brucethemoose2 4y agoEh it wouldnt make any sense. Apple is essentially rejecting cpu only workloads that would run better on a Xeon in all their other products, thats kinda the idea behind making such a gpu heavy design.
- lesserknowndan 4y agoBy “gpu heavy design” do you mean all of the other accelerators - i.e, Neural Engine, and Video CODECS - that are in the M1 and M2? I could very definitely see Apple go a buck each way approach like they did with the Mac Mini. i.e Release an M2 Ultra Mac Pro and an Intel Xeon Mac Pro. Based on how Apple likes to surprise might they release a machine with both in the one?…
- brucethemoose2 4y agoWell that too, but its also GPU shader and bandwidth heavy. Much more of the chip is dedicated to graphics than anything from AMD/Intel. What I am saying is that Apple expects devs to drop old paradigms and accelerate apps with Metal where possible. Its not just evident in the hardware, but in the evolution of their software toolchains as well.
