Out of curiosity, what changed?
- plonk 4y agoMany reasons I can see: - I traveled, met people who had had a much better life and way more success, and basically got angry/ashamed enough that mine sucked that I got motivated to change it, - I cut ties with a couple friends/family members who had issues of their own (that they refused to work on), - I'm a competent tech worker, which means no money issues, less stress, social contact through school/work, and the morale boost of one part of my life going right at least, - having a few good (now remote) friends who helped me navigate through things. People who stay in bad situations probably don't have most of these things. GGP doesn't seem to know how hard it can be to fix this. Years after the bad times, I still have some social/emotional issues. And these were mild problems.
