ChatGPT is fine tuned to be a chatbot. It is likely a pretty decent amount of work/credits to train GPT3 to do what ChatGPT does. I'm sure there are instances where this would make sense though. It is a little bit like asking "why would I buy an omelette when I could just buy the eggs?"
- muzani 4y agoI'd wager most people use ChatGPT for things that GPT-3 does better. If you want a chatbot, then yes, use the chat version lol. But most of the time I want search built into my command prompt or something dumb like an idea for an emoji or powerpoint slide title. Then raw GPT is a lot better. Or, say, things like writing code based on my existing code. There's some benefit to chat, like iterative design. Say, asking it to write a story, then asking it to change parts of the story or tweak it to have different morals. But this can also be fixed with better prompt engineering, idk.
