I recently had some frank discussions with my parents, and in-laws about elder care. American society doesn't plan appropriately for this and I've seen serious tragedies in our extended family that would have been fairly easy to prepare if we had discussed them regularly. Things like which sibling is best positioned to be caretaker, and where does the family as a whole want to live(understanding that individual members might choose to go elsewhere).
