I'm not shocked by republicans anymore, I just assume they're always lying or cheating at this point. You could say the same for every politician, but they seem to specialize in it.
- tpoacher 4y agoI'd call 'hostile media bias' on this one. I have the same impression about all parties, but with a bias towards liberal politicians instead (without identifying as republican as far as i'm concerned). Perhaps this in itself is evidence I'm more conservative leaning without realising it. I wouldn't know. PS: Not an American
- bediger4000 4y agoHow is the article exhibiting hostile bias? It reports facts about Arizona's previous secretary of state's public comments being opposite what that SoS knew to be facts.
- tpoacher 4y agoThe hostile media bias (or effect) refers to the bias of the recipient, not the bias of the media. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hostile_media_effect https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hostile_media_effect I.e. "hostile media" bias, not hostile "media bias". It is the phenomenon whereby an otherwise neutral article could be perceived as equally hostile or biased by either political side, based on their own biases and expectations regarding media agendas.
- gamblor956 4y agoWaPo is a moderate-right newspaper by American standards, and was a conservative newspaper when originally purchased by Bezos. So you're arguing that a conservative newspaper is biased against...conservatives?
- stuckinhell 4y agoThe Washington Post is in no way socially conservative, but it does often push pro big business/amazon polices.
- lockhouse 4y agoWaPo is very much left of center, as are most of the major American media outlets with the notable exceptions of Fox News and the Wall Street Journal. https://www.allsides.com/media-bias/media-bias-chart https://www.allsides.com/media-bias/media-bias-chart
- bediger4000 4y agoThat chart is extremelydebatable: putting CNN in with Jacobin seems odd, as does putting Epoch Times as merely "conservative". As a conservative, I'm going to have to say this chart isn't very good.
- lockhouse 4y agoDuring the Obama and Trump administrations CNN went really far left. I think that’s accurately categorized. You might be right about Epoch Times, I’m not very familiar with it.
- filoeleven 4y agoThe link below is to a much more informative chart. It covers left/right bias and has a y axis of “reliability.” https://adfontesmedia.com/interactive-media-bias-chart/ https://adfontesmedia.com/interactive-media-bias-chart/
- bediger4000 4y agoI dunno having the WSJ "skews right" makes me wonder. Epoch Times and Jacobin don't appear, and Joe Rogan is dead center. Hmmm ....

- ModernMech 4y agoI think in light of the Dominion vs. Fox News lawsuit, we really need to re-examine the "liberal media bias" narrative. Who are the people pushing this narrative the hardest? Fox News — they devote a good chunk of their programming to this narrative every day. But now it's been shown in court that Fox News hosts don't believe what they tell their audience. They put people on air who talk about election fraud, then secretly text each other about how that person is insane and they are telling lies. But their own concern about the trustworthiness of their own guests never makes it to their audience. This is precisely the thing they say others are doing. Given the new evidence, it seems like Fox News is mostly projecting their own deceptive practices and ascribing them to "liberal media" to shield themselves from accusations of the same. Until the same can be shown about e.g. MSNBC or CNN, we must consider Fox News (which is the center of gravity of the conservative media ecosystem, and the most watched news channel in absolute terms) to be singularly deceptive.
