At my company, all of our goals are ranked on a 1-5 scale. Where a "3" is doing your job. I have been told by my manager that the only acceptable ratings are either a "3" or a "4" where a 3 is doing your job at 100% accepted capacity and a "4" is going above and beyond. The only way to earn a "5" is to wear reed sandals and walk on water. A "2" means immediate PIP and a "1" means you are going to be escorted out the door.
