What’s the next best smartphone or non-smartphone based option to try and navigate if you get lost and don’t have something like a satellite phone or satellite enabled smartphone like those new iPhones?
Offline maps with a solar powered charger or power-pack?
- Dalewyn 4y agoA self-sufficient, proper GPS unit like something from Garmin. Battery life is still a point of failure. For a guaranteed failsafe fallback: A good old compass and paper maps of the area and knowing how to use them.
- secondcoming 4y agoGarmin watches have maps. Here Maps are downloadable to your phone but I'm not sure if they cover off-trail routes.
