Humans Who Are Not Concentrating Are Not General Intelligences (2019)
- mach1ne 4y agoIt's wild looking back at how revolutionary the unicorn story GPT-2 wrote was only a few short years ago. And now we're at ChatGPT.
- qikInNdOutReply 4y ago? This headline is ascientific nonsense. Humans consist of mostly subconcious subprocesses who ocassionally may guide the self-awareness decoration homunkuli on top into "ilusions of self-importance". Ironically a time we concentrate the most, the subconciousness of it all can be felt almost directly. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flow_(psychology) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flow_(psychology) But the subconcious may be active and working, if not under pressure to focus. All that is important, is to ocassionally think about the endgoal/question and thus keep the reward gates for continous processing open. Tl,DR; The horse concerns itself little with the riders faces.

The author says that a person can perform poorly on an IQ test and still seem witty, or that a person might seem bright and engaging but be bad at math, and uses these facts to claim that human social behavior is a low cognition task - rather than that the particular benchmarks they have chosen are weak predictors of human cognition.
- johnea 4y agoThis just reinforces what I've been saying for years: The network attached hand computer has made people stupid. Of course, for this to happen, most people had to be stupid to start with. Please don't confuse stupid with some sort of physical disability! Stupid is simply an unwillingness to exercise mental discipline...
