K-12 start hours are one of the reasons I pulled my kids out of public school. We did a combination of homeschooling and a private school that provided homeschooling assistance three days a week from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. My kids did much better academically once we eliminated the 6:00 am wake up times.
- giantg2 4y agoThere are multiple variables at play here. I suspect that the quality of schooling played a huge part, especially the perspective of peer students. In my experience kids at private schools and homeschool had much better performance due to a reduction in distracting kids and the apathy culture present at many public schools. The fact they were able to go 10-2 also shows that they're at an accelerated paced over a normal day.
