Perhaps instead we should hold people to a higher standard rather than tolerating bullshit and nonsense. Using AI as a tool for identifying and explaining logical fallacies (among other things) could be very valuable. In the same way that ChatGPT can explain code and identify bugs. If it were well-used, then it would have the effect of making individuals less vulnerable to professional bullshitters and the armies of bots that already pervade online discourse. It could even be integrated into moderation tools (and browsers) to reduce the tide of nonsense spewed by AI and humans alike. If bullshit generators are such a threat, then perhaps we should seek to make them less effective.
