I dropped out of a cushy job to start contracting, and since then the axe has always been there. I have 4 months left in my current contract, but with only verbal promises of extension, I have been networking for the past 8 months to make sure that I can get back up into a new contract with days to weeks.

- fbrncci 4y agoHigher pay (for EU standards) and more flexibility on where and how I can work. I relocated all the way from Europe to Asia, while serving European, US and Asian clients. Back then I could only serve local clients who wanted me to work for them in a hybrid way or WFH, less than a few hours from their main offices. Working from a different continent, is also a no-go for most people on pay-roll (taxes and such).
