The phrase is extremely cringe. I've read polls where actual latin/hispanic persons stated they hated the term.
The phrase 'latin' is already "ungendered".
Also in Spanish most words are gendered, I believe "cat" is "gato" or "gata". Should that be "gatx" too?
- emodendroket 4y agoSpanish gender-neutral terms generally swap out an e for the o or a, though @ is an older one people used. Believe it or not these issues are contentious elsewhere too.

- theshrike79 4y agoWhat I've heard from actual Spanish speakers is that "latinx" is really hard to pronounce for native speakers. Latina/Latino flows off much easier. It's easy for english speakers though.
