Russia says it will fast-track testing of tank-killing robot in Ukraine
- melling 4y agoCompare the improvements in tanks and planes from WWI to WW2, a period of 25 years. The same thing is about to happen with robotic tanks, jets, drones, etc.
- pedrocr 4y agoWe've had flying drones in operation for a long time now. I wonder why the same hasn't been done to tanks as well. The latency is even less of a problem.
- barbazoo 4y agoEspecially since a bad actor doesn't have to care about edge cases and not hurting people. Maybe it has to do with risk? The cost of replacing an airplane and the pilots are probably much higher than repling a and its operators. Also with tanks you still have to bring them relatively close to where you're planning on using them whereas an airplane can cover much bigger distances.
- qbrass 4y agoRadio jamming is much easier and the tank can't adapt to not having a signal as well as a drone can.

- sorokod 4y agoRussian soldiers in Ukraine still use walkitalkies and cellular phones for tactical comms. Wouldn't hold my breath for "tank killing robots"
- credit_guy 4y agoOf course they need to test it straight on the battlefield. When they try to test it somewhere else something like this happens: https://twitter.com/grahworin/status/1627352723900211200 https://twitter.com/grahworin/status/1627352723900211200?
