I pay the equivalent of USD $420 every ten years to have government-issued ID. Facebook wants to charge me $12 a month, for them to look at this ID once. That is $1440 over 10 years. The two services offered are pretty similar: check it once, issue a stamp of approval, then administer that system over time. Why is Facebook's service 3.5x the price?

- cormacrelf 4y agoDid you read what I said? I said both of them provided similar services.
- JumpCrisscross 4y ago> both of them provided similar services Last I checked, the DMV doesn't have a social media arm. You're thinking of identity verification as product. That's obviously not what Facebook is selling.
- saurik 4y agoFacebook isn't charging for their various social media services, they are charging for the ID verification service.
- remus 4y ago> Facebook wants to charge me $12 a month, for them to look at this ID once. Your $12/month also covers access to a support service. I guess that's what you're actually paying for.
- rcoveson 4y agoThis is a joke, right? Sure the DMV/DLD sucks, but is a Facebook support line to some minimum wage call center really going to suck less?
