- mewse 4y agoInterestingly, Zeno had said the exact opposite, a hundred years earlier -- that since a 'whole' could be divided into an infinite number of smaller 'parts', which themselves could be divided ad infinitum, that these infinite parts when summed up must be far greater than the whole. Which was the basis for nearly all of his popular paradoxes. (And then Newton and Leibnitz, some two millennia later, spoiled everybody's fun by developing the integral calculus such that whole categories of amusing philosophical conundrums became utterly mundane mathematical word problems with rigorously defined correct answers)
