This is an interesting post and an interesting discussion! But for me (a lowly algorithm developer far removed from IaaS pricing) the most confusing part of it is the meaning of "you". The author and comments seem to use it in critical equations assuming it is obvious from context and benefits whether this "you" is a service provider or a consumer (company buying IaaS). It would be much easier for us if folks liberally sprinkled IAAS "buyer" / "seller" or "provider" / "consumer" in their opinions.
