When I was younger I had a job where I got time off in lieu for any time over the normal time. This meant I could take time off at other times. I never minded working late. In my current position, I don't have that. Deadlines need to be moved if they can't be done in the normal working time. I think it's also because I am older and have more commitments outside of work.
