Ask HN: Good guide to turn an existing Xcode project into a template?

I recently got into MacOS development and totally love it. My hard won new code / understanding of Objective-C I realized could be reused for many of my other projects that I would like to realize as MacOS apps. But unfortunately I don't think it's as simple as just "forking the repo" and starting over. I've searched online a lot, but all the guides are like "1. Open Xcode; 2. Construct this Rube Goldberg machine in 10,000 easy manual steps; 3. Profit" and I really don't wanna/sure there must be an easier way. No takers?
