Twitter: SMS 2FA is only for Blue subscribers
I long in to Twitter for the fist time in a while and this is the pop-up that I see:
You must remove text message two-factor authentication
Only Twitter Blue subscribers can use the text message two-factor authentication method. It’ll just take a few minutes to remove it. You can still use the authentication app and security key methods.
To avoid losing access to Twitter, remove text message two-factor authentication by Mar 19, 2023.

- geoah 4y agoDoesn’t say you’ll lose access to your account. Just says sms 2fa will be disabled. > Non-Twitter Blue subscribers that are already enrolled will have 30 days to disable this method and enroll in another. After 20 March 2023, we will no longer permit non-Twitter Blue subscribers to use text messages as a 2FA method. At that time, accounts with text message 2FA still enabled will have it disabled. Disabling text message 2FA does not automatically disassociate your phone number from your Twitter account. If you would like to do so, instructions to update your account phone number are available on our Help Center.
- Raed667 4y agoThen this part is very poorly worded: > To avoid losing access to Twitter, remove text message two-factor authentication by Mar 19, 2023.
- nashashmi 4y ago"as the adage goes, you ship your org chart. org chart is chaos. so we ship chaos." I am pretty sure they don't know what to do come March 19 and have not thought this through. Loyalists are getting promoted. Competent people are leaving for better jobs. Seems like a middle eastern country I used to know.
