I like your definition of woke. It should probably elaborate that being woke is generally something that is virtuous yet harmful. A self defeating, short term position. Equity = wealth destruction and no equity. Transgender = mutilation and social group becomes perverts obsessed with sex. Doesn't generally solve problems of self esteem or bodily sex mismatch. Diversity = institutionalized racism and quotas. Self defeating as everyone automatically becomes a racist, looking only at skin color, and everyone else suspiciously looks at minorities and wonders if they have any skills, or are just pawns to check boxes in HR.

We've been dealing with what to teach our kids for a long time and the issue will never go away. I can remember adults complaining that their kids had to pledge allegiance to God every morning when in elementary schools in the 60's. Then there were battles over sex education when I was in junior high. I was given a failing grade on a paper in High School by a teacher who told me my paper on plate tectonics (a new discovery at the time) was contradicted by The Bible. The conflict will never end as long as we have public schools in America. "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." "Woke" is just a shorthand for education in public schools that are liberal interpretations of religious (esp creationism vs evolution), sex and civil rights matters.

  I think a better definition of woke is that it’s about being aware of others struggles, and recognizing how those struggles have manifested.

    That's the liberal understanding. My definition is the conservative understanding. Who ever can reconcile the two will have a better chance of being elected.

  These transgressions didn't end in irreversible mutilation, increased racism, or astronomical depression and suicide rate increases. These new age woke transgressions have far far far worse outcomes than the pledge of allegiance, which it could be argued has a positive outcome. Not apples to apples. You controlled your child's upbringing back then. Now parents can't. Kids can self affirm and get permenantly destructive puberty blockers and live double lives and it can be illegal to inform parents.

I’m not going to spend time on the other stuff (which I also feel lacks perspective and nuance) but your definition of transgender couldn’t be more off. There’s nothing sexual about being transgender - it’s purely about being become the gender you mentally feel you are. You can be trans straight, gay, and everything in between. Calling them perverts is quite ignorant - I don’t even know these days where it could even be accurately applied or what it should mean. Usually that’s a word used by people who just hate another group because they don’t understand and certainly don’t accept someone who wants to live or act differently than they do. Ironically it is an affront to conservatives who should be inclined to let people be free to live however they want. By saying they’re perverts obsessed with sex, I think that’s more accurately placed upon those who look down on transgendered people, and only view it in sexual terms because they simply don’t understand. Side note - I wish the T in GLBT was actually separated out. Gender and sexuality are completely orthogonal - something that I as a gay man only have recently really understood in talking to people who recently transitioned.

  What about the autogynephiles - the males who get off to the idea of themselves as woman? Very common amongst the MtF transgenders, you can see all the signs of it just browsing their forums - men talking about their "euphoria boners" and such, when they adorn themselves in women's clothes. For this subset of transgenders it is fundamentally a sexual urge that drives their transition.

I think a better definition of woke is that it’s about being aware of others struggles, and recognizing how those struggles have manifested.
