I think the real reason that ChatGPT can replace journalists so easily is that the kind of articles they write for the last few years are mostly are very centered around the headlines, don't add much beyond that except 2 or 3 more facts, and use a very standard style. Give ChatGPT those 2 or 3 facts and it should be easy to replicate. Add to that the fact that journalists are mostly glorified bloggers nowadays, maybe if they convert to reporters and go where the news are they will be harder to replace. Maybe it's not their fault, maybe it's the market, SEO, or the public being too dumb, but it is what it is.
