SpaceX drops plans to convert oil rigs into launch platforms
- gnarbarian 4y agothis is a bummer. I was hoping these would be used to sidestep the FAA BS they have been dealing with.
- dd36 4y agoWhat BS?
- gnarbarian 4y agowaiting more than a year for an environmental authorization to launch out of Boca chica.
- bryananderson 4y agoYou are confusing environmental clearance with a launch license. Environmental review was completed, with some required mitigations. Launch license is usually something that comes much closer to launch.
- gnarbarian 4y agohow long did the environmental clearance take? I confused nothing
- consumer451 4y agoWere they ready to launch, or conduct a static test prior to getting the license?
- gnarbarian 4y agothey would have been
- consumer451 4y agoI am a huge SpaceX fan, I watch every NSF stream and that really did not appear to be the case. We were all about 50/50 on if the OLM would even survive the static test. The water deluge system was delivered only a couple days prior to static test.
- bryananderson 4y agoThen why did it take so much longer after the environmental clearance was done?
- Teever 4y agoHow long do you feel that environmental assessment should have taken? What qualifications/experience do you have that help you make that claim?
- dd36 4y agoI still am kind of amazed that Space X is allowed to launch near a protected wetland. It must be so loud and there must be some pollution.
