I'm not young, but I don't care about cars in the slightest and can't wait for a post car society whatever that might look like.
- s1artibartfast 4y agoI think it largely comes down to perspective, interests, and way of life. I honestly have trouble imagining a happy life without a vehicle. It enables me to go places I want to go, where there is no public transportation nor would I want there to be. On top of that, there's the utility of being able to build things like homes and shelter.
- Apocryphon 4y agoCar-sharing and ride-sharing exist now in addition to public transit. Vehicles can exist without personal ownership of one.
- s1artibartfast 4y agoYeah, I totally agree rentals exist. Maybe it is a semantics difference with what a post-car society means to people. To me, it does not imply using a car as much as I do now and simply paying more to rent instead of owning.
- dumbaccount123 4y agoReally depends on the person, if they're hobby is working/driving cars like enthusiasts it doesnt really make sense to look down on them. For some people a car is more than an utility. "A lot of us dont need cars"? what an biased onesided view of the world, how travelled are you? Because outside of your soy latte zones vehicles are a huge need for day to day life.
