Ecosia: A search engine that plants trees. 168M so far
- smt88 4y agoThere is absolutely zero chance this company has planted 168M trees. They're probably couldn't dropping seeds into the ground or some other greenwashing tactic.
- leonagano 4y agoIt’s a very open company. They don’t look like greenwashing at all. It’s their mission, since the start. Why do you think it’s not possible to plant 168M trees? They have partners all over to physically plant tress. https://blog.ecosia.org/tag/where-does-ecosia-plant-trees/ https://blog.ecosia.org/tag/where-does-ecosia-plant-trees/
- smt88 4y agoWell, think of the math. Let's say each tree costs $2 to plant. That includes: - cost of tree - transport of tree - labor (usually at least 10 min/sapling) - overhead of managing the program That's $336M. Unless this is one of the most successful search companies of all time, that's an unfathomable number to add to all of their other costs. Tree-planting programs are all green washing in my experience anyway. https://www.vice.com/en/article/v7v75a/tree-planting-schemes-england https://www.vice.com/en/article/v7v75a/tree-planting-schemes...
