I'm from a rural place, so car is more or less the only viable method of transportation. Next town over is 45 miles away, the buss goes 3 times every day (06:00, 12:00, 18:00) - and like most small rural towns, the shops are dying one after another. If you want to purchase furniture, appliances, or whatever, that means driving to the next town - or you could spend $100-$200 on delivery. Luckily I moved away, but every time I'm back home I do feel the pain - especially during winters.
