Can your phone tell if a bridge is in good shape? (2022)
- dieselgate 4y agoInteresting article, it appears the "findings" here are really just relying on the accelerometer built into smart phones. So in theory a monitoring "app" (without getting into technicalities) could be run on the device to measure bridge motion/vibrations. Before reading the article thought it was going to be something more invasive for phone users but more about hardware utilizations. I have some friends who work painting the Golden Gate bridge and wonder if they'd be good candidates for getting different readings across the bridge area.
