Similar experience. I used to feel like a pro. I was always very particular and would spend a lot of time parsing reviews, and as a result always got amazing AirBnBs. I assumed the haters were just bad at picking rentals! But the last few years I've had a string of very sub-par places with stellar reviews. Now, I can't trust the reviews. That, and the price gap between decent hotels and AirBnBs has certainly narrowed.
