Author has a pretty tame take on failure from my perspective. Getting fired and some bad interview experiences are the low-lights? That's just part of the journey most, if not everyone, experiences. Intentional career changes are very hard (starting over) and take a long time (formal education and training). Most are "serendipitous accidents": there's a need. It's vaguely related to you in terms of timeliness, skills or physical proximity, and you do a not-terrible job responding. Congrats, you're now the expert. Progression in your desired field comes about the same way, it's just you & the need are more obviously aligned.
