I tried playing it again recently with mods and kept on running into issues where there would be long traffic jams on a single lane of a multi lane road. Basically it seemed like everyone had an affinity to make the same left turn at a this one particular intersection. In a real city people would just drive around that madness and make a left turn at the next block.
