The big tech companies have PR departments and I wouldn't put it past them to feed/seed ideas for hit piece articles in the mainstream press. I haven't seen deeply researched journalism on much of anything. Either the media thinks people don't have time for that and/or people have been conditioned to not read anything of any depth.
